Technology

As part of our summer program we were asked to complete a series of Architectural based softwares to prepare ourselves for the upcoming year. Architectural softwares like Sketchup pro, Autocad, Revit Architecture, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and rendering motors like Vray were learned and practiced.

1- Autocad

- Autocad 2015 Essential training

- Autocad Architecture 2017

In this course I started to work with lines, rectangles, circles and other geometric shapes.
Learning how to draw them and using different tools for manipulating them.
Also I learned how to use snap tools and draw accurately which is a key factor in Architectural drawing.
Mirroring, lengthening, trimming, exploding and joining objects were also a part of the course.
Learning to use object and layer properties.
Using the dimension tool for plan and architectural drawing.
Later on using these geometrical shapes to draw plans and sections for architectural drawings.
Learning to draw 3 dimensional drawings.

2- sketchup

- Sketchup 2015 Essential Training
- Sketchup for Architecture: Fundamentals
- Sketchup Rendering using Vray

In this course I started off by learning navigating around the interface, manipulating objects, drawing in 2D and 3D space, working with materials, and applying textures.
After going through the first step I continued learning how to create camera views, shade faces and edges, work with layers, animate artwork and export to 2d and 3d sketches.
Learning the essentials got me to start on the fundamentals of SketchUp for Architecture.
I got to learn to create a site plan, build walls, floor, and roof of a house. Also how to add detail elements like stairs and ceiling trim, and make models more realistic with materials. Plus,I learned how to take advantage of the organizational features of SketchUp.
With using Vray as a rendering motor I learned how to take a single scene with interior/exterior elements and add lights, move cameras, and enhance objects with translucent and reflective surfaces and finally get highly realistic 3D architectural drawings.

3- Adobe Illustrator

- Illustrator CS6 essential training

In this course, I started to learn about the core concepts and techniques that can be applied to any workflow—for print, the web, or building assets that will find their way into other applications. I also learned the elements that make up vector graphics (paths, strokes, and fills) while showing how to use each of the drawing tools and how to combine and clean up paths and organize them into groups and layers.
Also, I learned to adjust appearances and effects, draw with the pen tool, work with anchor points and paths and also print, save and export the artwork.

4- Adobe Photoshop

- Photoshop CS6 essential training

In this course, I started to learn efficient ways to perform common editing tasks, including noise reduction, shadow and highlight detail recovery, retouching, and combining multiple images. Along the way, the course explores techniques for nondestructive editing and compositing using layers, blending modes and layer masks.
Also, I learned retouching and cloning, editing RAW files, organizing images in Bridge, customizing the PS workspaces and toning and changing colors.
